Cue Zero Theatre Company presents the New England premiere of Amélie the musical by Craig Lucas at the Arts Academy of New Hampshire. This is a charming, whimsical stage adaptation of the French film from 2001.Amélie is the third mainstage show in Cue Zero Theatre Company’s 2025 season. Times may be hard for dreamers, but they are not hard for the most ambitious dreamer of them all, Amélie Poulain. Directed by Heidi Krantz and Music Directed by Christie Conticcio, this show takes you on an extraordinary journey throughout Montmartre, France in the 1990’s. Amélie lives quietly and often keeps to herself, but her imagination runs wild. Throughout the piece, she pin-points the negative cycles in the lives of the people around her and secretly finds ways to improve their lives through anonymous small acts of kindness. Once she is faced with a potential love interest, she retreats and hides herself away due to generational trauma and an overall lonely, lousy childhood. This sensation of unconditional love scares her at first, but she eventually allows herself to break down and process the trauma that she has suppressed for her entire life. This piece is equally comedic as it is soul-stirring. Amélie’s life is an emotional Odyssey full of many surprises.
AMELIE is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals. www.concordtheatricals.com
